Nothing in the way of information about gruff voiced, blues pianist Jesse James other than having recorded 4 sides in the same recording session in 1936. His sound appears to be derived from folk and Delta Blues tradition just as much as the barrelhouse piano style.
Here he recounts the story of southern train engineer who died protecting the lives of passengers aboard a runaway train... but in a awesome type of way.

this is a great find! and it makes for a great comparison with the original versions of Furry Lewis, although his version was always a little different everytime he sang it!
