Fisherman Attacked by Komodo Dragon

An Indonesia fisherman died from heavy bleeding after being attacked by Komodo dragons at Indonesia's Komodo National Park on Tuesday March 24, 2009, in eastern Indonesia.

Muhamad Anwar, a 32-year-old fisherman, was attacked by the dragons during a rest stop. Fellow fishermen tried to save him from the attack, but failed. Anwar died after being treated for two hours at a local clinic located in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara province.

Attacks by Komodo dragons on humans are rare. The last attack was in 2007 when a boy was killed on the island.

There are about 2,000 protected and endangered dragons living in the wild, mainly on Indonesia's Komodo and Rinca Islands. Komodo dragons regularly kill prey such as pigs, goats, snakes, dogs, deers, and buffalos.

this guy died ..in recent years (according to the new2) the clash between human & komodo increase ... 11 died from the clash one of them is foreigner .

Thank you for posting this, Busan.  I fell asleep with the radio on the other night and thought that I had dreamed this story. Is there any follow up as to what sort of effect the Dragon's saliva had on him, or was it simply the massive blood loss that killed him?
