This song gives me great comfort knowing that God cares about us and forgives us if we ask Him. There is no way to Jesus without believing that He is the Son of God and IS God. If we believe in Him, and repent, we will be with Him forever. Jesus died for us-even the worst of us, but now He is alive again. He will welcome anyone who asks Him!!

@LycaonsBane Those aren't really specific examples, just more concepts, but that's beside the point. The recent set of verses I posted say to guard against that so christians aren't deceived by blind faith. As I said before, we're on the same side of that issue.
I meant that christianity is simple in that you don't have to do anything other than believe, unlike most every other religion where you have to "earn" your way to heaven. What do you believe and why do you believe it?

@LycaonsBane The way I see it, we're on the same side of the blind faith issue: it's not good. If the atrocities you mention are as terrible as you say they are (you didn't really give me any examples), then I condemn them too.
As for not being that simple, I think it is... why do you think it's not that simple?

I believe the what the singer is saying is that if his(the singer's) heart was the only thing that Jesus would have saved by dying on the cross that He still would have died on the cross for just him, in order to save just one man. And it really is true, if we were the only sinner on this earth then Jesus still would have come and die for us because He loves us far more than we can comprehend

We can't prove that God exists. If we could prove that then Christians wouldn't need faith. The very fact that salvation is a gift that people must choose for themselves to accept is an act of love. God doesn't call believers to a blind faith though. Psalm 19:1-6 says that creation speaks for God. Numerous arguments have been made for God (cosmological, teleological, ontological, anthropic) but ultimately it comes down to whether or not you yourself are willing to believe in Him or not.
