Defender 2000 is the other work by Jeff Minter (Tempest 2000) for the Atari Jaguar.
I personally like the Defender Plus mode better, but 2000 is also fun. The ship is just a little too big, though.
As per Minter's craft, psychadelia may ensue ;)

  • Dang, that ship fills up a lot of the screen. I'll bet this is hard to control with that crappy Jag controller.

  • The Jag controller is great.

Don't believe everything you hear on the internet about the controller. Most people who hate it haven't even given it a chance.

Most people I know who've played the Jaguar have loved the controller.

Anyway, yeah, the ship on the screen is too big.

    That's the only problem.

Has nothing to do with the controller.

  • @nicklapman I have both and in my opinion defender blows protector away................. infact i have been thinking about putting protector on ebay

  • Which is a better game Defender 2K or Protector SE?

  • @Bacterions Thanks for the info. I know looking for forgotten gems on unpopular, flop consoles is an odd hobby, but I enjoy it (who knows, maybe I'll do a YouTube video series about it one day!)

  • @MattTheSaiyan: The 3DO has a much bigger library of good games (and hell, a much bigger library period) but the Jaguar is decent. Since you're saying you've been satisfied by the CDi, both are good choices really.

  • @viMasterJag am i the only one who thinks that this is better than protector se?

  • So, is the Jaguar worth getting for someone (like me) who likes looking for hidden gems on flop consoles for fun? I've been doing that with the CDi with surprising success, and either the Jaguar or 3DO look like decent choices to do this with.

  • the controller is smaller than it looks and fits well in your hands.

    go Jag!!!

  • I've never seen or played the original Defender, but this looks very cool. Great arcade-style pacing, and the flashy graphics have definite charm. Absolutely amazing soundtrack, too; I actually like the music for this a whole lot better than Tempest 2000's.

Thanks for giving us a look at this one.

  • There is a nice defender clone in the making. Search for playniax on you tube or have a look in there website.
