No no, screw RoS, Cap'n Jazz took the genre and made it theirs. RoS was too punky. This man definitely influenced many bands of many genres. I'm in a death metal band and I can't go a day without listening to Owen, or A.F.
I can see where you're coming from, but you really have to take Rites of Spring and the late eighties Washington DC hardcore bands into account. Mike's first outing in Cap'n Jazz is the most raucous thing he's ever done and their album came eight years after Rites of Spring and the lads were doing their thing.

i guess not really. but considering american football was one of the original emo bands, i would say he's influenced quite a few genres.
