i hope i can help them. well me and my church members once donate many stuff to them such as giving away all those unused mattress, and all the unused equipment to them and the vaccination especially the street children , they infest with scabies, it's terrible. We basically bought a medicine treating scabies and put them into pillbox 1 by 1 and donate it to them for those infested with that kind of disease.

the song bugs me. what is the alternative? they can't take up a lifestyle of "choice" and consumption a la the west. look at china. i dunno man. look through the trash in the us and it's mind blowing. there are people here that subsist on garbage. so many of them. what happens to all of these people, the minor players? bloody humanity.

@weepinggod: If the only choice is to live in a slum or die, is there really any choice? The situation is more complicated than can be explained in this small box. God surely is weeping at our apathy and ignorance.

What happens when a redneck tries to be clever? He makes an ass out of himself and doesn't even realize it.

Perhaps your polemic stems from anger at seeing the misery and hopelessness there in that god-forsaken place. I've been to a Jakarta slum and spent some time there myself. It's not pleasant. I can even understand your anger. However, you do your cause a real disservice as you babble on about that which you haven't the first damn clue.
How exactly do the evil corporations benefit from this terrible situation (poverty, slums, etc..)? Hmmm, you think about it and get back to me on that!
ignoring the effects of private corporations would be ridiculous and narrow minded. i like your red herring approach by ignoring JAKARTA'S poverty and focusing on other countries. and don't insult my intelligence by asking me if i know what the IMF, WTO, or the World Bank do.
