A better option for really preserving your right and authority to choose is a "Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care" or a document called 'The Will to Live.' Either of these documents will protect you where the 'living will' leaves you at risk. In the Durable Power of Attorney, one can delegate to a trusted friend or family member the power to become your agent for any health care decisions you are unable to make. Also as built in protection the PMDD limits your agent's authority in one very specific way - It makes it clear that your agent does not have the authority to approve the direct and intentional ending of your life.

Your agent may not authorize in any way shape or form that you be given a lethal injection or an intentional lethal drug overdose. Your agent cannot authorize you be denied food or fluids for the purpose of causing your death by starvation or dehydration. This limitation not only protects you but also protects your agent from being subjected to pressure to authorize such actions or omissions. The Will To Live safeguards your life when you cannot speak for yourself as your "health care agent", names backup agents if your first choice can't serve, describes the treatment you do and do not want to guide your health care agent and physicians, protects your family and health care agent from pressure from health care providers and others by allowing them to prove what you really did want, and best of all relieves agonizing end of life decisions by making your wishes clear.

And our own government was ok with this woman being neglected & made to starve till she was dead from it...not from her disability or health but from neglect & intentional torture caused due to starvation and dehydration...WTF? This shuld b a guaranteeds get out of jail card for anyone who causes death by intentional neglect cuz if it was ok to do this to Terry then y isnt ok to do to anybody else?? She was someones baby & they had to watch as she suffered cuz the Law said she needs to die.

what i cant grasp is the fact that she lived over 10yrs with the same form of disability she started out with.....maybe not any better or worse but nevertheless...THE SAME. So my question is Y after a decade of being the same kind of disabled was she ordered by a Judge who isnt at as important to this woman in anyway,to die? Why was he the voice that mattered over her parents voice? if we have children with this disability & we starve them to death,we r guilty of murder but this judge isnt?

Um, doesn't the government get involved in our lives enough? This case should have been kept within the family.
