The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated feature film based on the animated series of the same name. It was released in North America on August 8, 1986.

The film was directed by Nelson Shin, who produced the original Transformers television series, and features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, John Moschitta, Jr., Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. It was also the final role for both Orson Welles[1] and Scatman Crothers.

The story takes place in 2005, 20 years after the events of the TV series' second season and serves to bridge into the third season. Set to a hard-driving metal music soundtrack, the movie has a decidedly darker tone than the television series, with detailed visuals in Toei Animation's typical animated feature film styling, and Decepticon villains that are more menacing, killing without hesitation. The film features several grand battles in which a handful of major characters meet their end. The film's tagline was: "Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond Your Wildest Imagination."

  • and so the children of the 1990 knew the pain of death.

  • @dave4shmups Critics are retarded. They game crap like Tin Men and called it solid gold. Butchered Roger Moore 007 films and disrespected this masterpiece in animation. Hate the fact that Hot Rod ends up Leader. Thought Springer had more potential...and Neil Ross' ultra-cool voice! Peace!

  • @NickMichalak Ah ha. Well, to tell you the truth, I think those B-movie companies like Cannon and DEG have made the better movies than the famous ones like Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox, but some of the movies made by the famous companies are good.

  • @MysticArksRevenge De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG) went bankrupt in 1988. I would imagine the actual owner of the film is Hasbro. Sony just had the distribution rights.

  • @NickMichalak Why does Sony own the right to this? I thought DEG did the original movie.

  • @BoukenCrimson I agree! In fact, I definitely want to try to have an animated movie as good as this based off of my animated series that I want to do with one of my friends and partners.

  • @obsgia Well, if an animated movie like this came out in today's standards, it would probably be rated PG-13.

  • @gdziejestmojpies I agree. I want to try to make animated movies as good as this one...

  • @dave4shmups I agree. Those critics are assholes.
