As an American, I must say that 99% of our TV is vacuous rubbish. Here, sitcom writers have no clue about being funny, and generally resort to derisive or scatological humor. Thankfully, I have a significant library of British (and Canadian) TV shows (from the past 30 years) to draw on, or I'd probably go off my rocker. (Of course reading is always the preferred activity :-)

Yes it is. The Mrs Slocambe look a like was played by June Bronhill (sp) - a light opera and local actress.

Is this Are you being served in Australia? I have never seen any part of it before. I wonder if it was a success?

@Eruadhiel Yay!! Yeah, dont worry there's more of us. Practically all my fave shows are British, some Irish, as well as my younger brothers too xD. If u go on the AYBS forum u'll see a ton of American fans there :D

This must be the Australian version that ran for, i think, only two seasons
i feel the need to defend my country. i am an american and i have visited great britain a few times. please know that not all americans are this stupid. some of us actually have a brain and can form coherent sentences. and btw why are we discussing this on a comment page for a SITCOM. smegheads

I can't believe all these Great Britian vs. USA comments. It's ridiculous.
I can never fault the immeasuable contributions that the Brits have made on the culture of the world over the centuries. Everything Shakespeare to Dusty Springfield...
not to mention the great imprint my own country has made, still in its relative youth.
if anything, AYBS should highlight the universal thing both countries share...we all enjoy a little double entendre and some bawdy humor... :)
