LOVE. According to christian tradition, the apostle John when he was aged, was carried around in a cot and the only word he would utter to poeple who asked him deep theological questions, was LOVE (find out the greek words for love and you will understand).

The UU congregation has changed my life...i recently moved to Hawaii and didnt have many friends. As soon as i walked through the doors of the UU church, i was embraced by everyone. It was a wonderful experience.

The primary teachings of Jesus and his Apostles, by example, parable and analogy was how to behave, not what to believe. The exception is they taught about the nature of a loving God, in contrast to the teachings of the Jewish Pharisees of the day who were teachig of a vengeful God who punished those who did not follow the rules closely enough. I think Unitarian Universalism captures the intent of Jesus' teachings in some ways better than the teachings of traditional Christian churches.

My viewpoint may not be very popular here & please understand I don't mean to be rude. But all of the Apostles of the true Christ made a huge point of telling people specifically "what to believe." Just something to consider.

good point. just because we don't understand what is true doesn't mean that we should ignore it, the Apostles tried to be as specific as they could so that we can know what is right and wrong

and yet, if you follow the bible literally from old testemet to new, gays and fornicators burn, unbaptised children are condemened, shellfish is an abomination, slavery us acceptable, and war is made in God's name. in the bible he killed the entire world's population. Where is the prince of peace there? this is what drove me away from christianity.

Yes. In all religious practice there is a "margin of error".All modes of "spirituality' are corrupted by human contact; making anthropomorphism a major concern because it will always impose its limitations (egotisms and ethnocentricities) upon the Illimitable-Divine...the All in All (Transcendent)
