President Barack Obama School Speech Part 1 of 2

President Obama told students, "You can't drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You've got to work for it and train for it and learn for it."

He added, "Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future."

Very good points-I don't know how people can have a problem with a man, a very important politial figure, the leader of the free world--telling our children to try hard and stay in school.

This is the only speech from a president that I've ever felt connected to. I really like his approach, its so honest. He's not a robot like past presidents, he's not afraid to be himself in front of the public. I was really engaged in this speech. I can't eexpect everyone to react well to this because people are continuously trying to bring him down instead of supporting him. The American way of thinking is quite absurd at times. God bless Obama and his family.

well there is a little thing called the seperation of church and state... and the fact that private schools are not government funded... that's why they are private, they are funded through tuition and fees... you're right i dont believe in god, but i do believe everyone is allowed to believe in whatever helps them sleep at night, so yeah, the government isnt responsible for private schools, and they dont have any reason to be supporting them

Well I am the mother of a 5th grader and a 1st grader. Both of my kids will be watching this-They understand no college-no good job I have told them this for years-College is not presented as an option in my household-more like a natural part of school and growing up. I am not saying this to be snotty either-my brother and I were the only 2 in my whold extended family to go to college, and I see where my cousins are today.
