Sorry for the unnecessary dialogue. With the exception of the face(scavenged from a silverface), this is an original ab165 Bassman. The plate load resistors and filter caps were making a little too much noise and were replaced. None of the paper caps or ceramic disks were touched. The point here is not to illustrate how typical or great a Bassman is but rather why one would want or welcome changes on one.....
Also, the V-twin pedal was in bypass mode while this was recorded. Probably should have used the bass channel also....

  • could that thing power two 412 Marshall cabs without worry of over working the amp or the tubes

  • @stbreal The transformer on the Bassman is original and wants to see a 4Ohm speaker load. You can be off while going up by say 100% to say 8 Ohms and be okay. Dont go down though, because a 2 ohm load is almost a dead short and the transformer and power tubes will see it that way too!

So if the two 412s have four 16Ohm speakers wired in parallel then yes you could safely hook 'em up...

  • @mattis40 8ohm amp hooked up to 32 ohm speakers?

  • @lukefenderrhodes In the US, my specs are accurate. On exports, idunno....

  • Can you move the camera around a little more?

  • @msgscout007

Well I was originally going to leave that part in, but I decided on extra dialogue instead...

First off, Fender's unmarked "ground selector" installed on the back of many amps is a misnomer. The ground selector was used on Fender amps installed with original 2 prong power plugs. For safety reasons, NO AMPLIFIER should be using a 2 prong plug power cord. When a vintage amp is updated to use a 3 prong power plug(grounded) the ground switch is bypassed(not used). I left mine in the original spot because I didnt want a hole in the back of the amp.

  • @mattis40 your just over protective!

  • just because its vintage doesnt mean you have to play vintage shit!!!!!! I wanna see some whale thrash, death, or some METAL OUT OF THESE!!!

  • @arva300178 500 dollars isn't that much!

  • @mattis40 nice thanks

  • I have a 1973 bassman 100, and I have to say on the 2nd channel mine sound's way more jangle than this one, with the bright switch on it is like mine turns into a twin reverb kind of sound, very bell like tones, I love it, I am leaving that channel well alone, but I am going to mod the bass channel to make it better for guitar, putting new caps in it, orange drops, and re-tubing it.

  • is the bassman 100 to loud for home use, what I mean is, I live in a detached house, so next door is 25 metres away, and it would be going in the garage, so it is not a big problem disturbing house guests, as garage is at the other end of house, not sitting room end, is this to loud for garage use ? if it is I am going to have to keep looking for a silverface deluxe reverb or silverface princeton reverb ( bummer ) as the bassman is way better sounding.
