A few thoughts on the proposed civil partnership legislation in Ireland and why it's not the same as full marriage equality for gays and lesbians. for more information on marriage equality please visit http://www.marriageequality.ie

PS Finally I've got it reuploaded with the sound in sync. If you left a comment on a previous version or previously rated the video, I'd be mighty obliged if you'd do so again. Thanks everyone, for watching.

  • @Spillers72 since I made this video, civil partnerships have become legal. The new government has promised to review the constitutional issues of same sex marriage, and given the popular support for it, I reckon we've a good chance of having full same sex marriage within a few years. Fingers crossed anyway :)

  • I think it's stupid that gay couples aren't allowed to adopt chrildren. I think that gay's should have the same rights as normal people do. Your right that is discrimination against everyone. there is a show you should watch it's called as the world turns and They have a gay couple on there their names are luke and noah and watch Luke's story because his family wasn't very accepting of him at first I think that is the way most families are at first.

  • @TvBox333 cheers!

  • "The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past."

  • @duirling great quote, cheers!

  • The thing that really annoys me about this issue is that the majority of people stopping gay marriage are straight. Gay marriage doesn't affect straight people in any way so I don't see why we should have a problem with it.

  • Its time to be heard. Thanks for your awareness raising. My partner and I are having a civil Partnership in UK and the lack of recognition in my homeland feeds into some of the homophobic responses we get. I'll see what I can do to rais awareness too.....

  • I think gay people should hide in these times where the West is in a transition to an Islamic society. The last thing they would want is to be in some sort of record registered as gay when Islam takes over. I think the real priority should be given to curing the spreading Islamic cancer in order to create a sustainable foundation for something like gay marriage.

  • Ireland should not recognize abnormal relationships. Gay people need help.

  • @TvBox333 Check the UK and see how many rights we have secured since the Civil Partnership Act came into play back in 2005 including the right to adopt, change of birth certificates and now new legislation for approval in religious buildings.

Its a game of stepping stones, little at a time and in 5 years the UK has achieved so much
