Saw them several times myself. Gavin is a pop song-writing machine. Check out Frozen Christmas by Tycoons as one of the most hauntingly beautiful Christmas songs ever.

Gavin is one of the greatest songwriters who ever came out of Seattle. I remember going to most of the Tycoons shows, they were all pretty small local shows, but they were growing quickly when they broke it off. They have to be one of my favorite Seattle bands ever. What a pure pop sound, and like SLOAN they all played every instrument. Like all the good ones, they were a small blip in time. maybe a reunion someday will be in order. Granted Phil is in LA, and i think Gavin is in NY.
