@phv628 Yes, Yes, No, No - use the buttons. On the JB4 control unit you have firmware which contains the different maps, tuning data etc. BMS looks at improving both performance and safety every day and therefore sends out firmware updates on a regular basis. With hte USB cable it takes you 5-10 min to upload and I would say worth the $35 extra. Think of what you paid for the car and tuning ;-)
@71Kongen So with JB4, I can just change to Map 0 using the channel and volume button on the steering wheel? If it is set to Map 0, would that be the stock mode? If on Map 0, would I still have to remove the JB4 control box? Do you need to get the USB cable to delete tuner codes or can you just do it using the volume up/down and the channel up/down buttons? What are firmware updates and why would I need those?
@phv628 I would advise to remote your tune before service - even oil change. It only takes you 20 min to remove it so why take the chance. I remove my DCI's as well. However I leave my DP's on as it's a lot of work on/off. DP's throw codes but JB4 auto deletes them. If you order don't forget the USB cable - it's important for free firmware updates etc. and you can very easily log how your car is performing. You can leave the tune in and put it on map 0. BMW can't see it unless they open the ECU
@phv628 It depends a little bit on the gas you have available if you can run enough psi to outrun an M3. I would say a JB4 map 1 (otherwise stock) will be similar to an M3. With my mods and JB4 map 2 I toke an M3 the other day by 3-4 CL. A couple of weeks ago I was just a little faster than a Porsche 997 S to 200 km/h. FMIC stands for front mounted intercooler. DCI, FMIC & DP's are all key to run higher boost and yes you feel a big difference :-) JB4 is great.
@71Kongen Another question, when you take your 335i in for oil changes, do you have to remove your JB4? Does your JB4 throw codes and do you have the ability to delete them?
@71Kongen I also have a 2009 335i xdrive (AWD). I was looking into getting the JB4. If I only get the JB4 without any other mods, will it be able to hang with a stock E92 M3? Have you noticed any performances increases with the BMS DCI and DPs? Sorry but is a "FMIC" an intercooler. Could you please put up some videos of your car?
@phv628 I had a flash from Ziptuning but I can't recommend that. Got a problem with the injectors and BMW updated my software. Bye Bye tune as they couldn't pass the tuner detection software. Started with JB3 and upgraded last month to JB4. Installed BMS DCI and AR catless downpipes as well. Will install FMIC when it starts warming up. Car drives fantastic now!!! Can recommend the JB4 - smooth and powerfull.
What is that warning sign on your display? Haven't seen that before. Waiting for the JB3 to arrive any day now :-) Got a 335i DCT but had problems with the flash tune. Satisfied with your JB3? Thinking of having the FMIC next. What can you recommend?
