You said: "I just took a look at 'how to win friends and influence people' which basically states people irrationally want to feel important so criticism is not welcome."<----Is that like when someone exclaims their own brilliance and then hurls insults and calls names to belittle other people?
As far as your other laborious retorts go; the reality right now is that most of our electricity is from fossil fuels. That will change someday but for now. . .
another aspect of betterment is lowering the weight and improving the aerodynamics of a car. a secret that very few people know is that you can easily make a comfortable safe 4 seater car weigh less than half of what they do today. they make them out of soft heavy steel and weight begets weight. it can be much much better with for instance fiber glass. if you can understand this you are smarter than 99% :)
@zapwatt allow me to make you intelligent. even if powered by coal the emission from an EV is less than normal cars because power plants are that much more efficient than cars. say 60% vs 20%. further we don't have to drive on coal. it can all come from wind, sun, water falls or nuclear. a 100% reduction in CO2 emission and foreign oil use is possible through EVs. that's one of the reasons they rock so hard. a small windmill on your house roof can literally power your car forever.
@zapwatt I just took a look at 'how to win friends and influence people' which basically states people irrationally want to feel important so criticism is not welcome. you're a text book case of this failing so let me word it differently. you're a cliche nitwit mindlessly spouting prejudice you've heard from other irate shitheads. surprising approach, I know :) but here's the kicker. if you want to feel important, if you want to be great, listen to the brilliance I offer you, then you will be.
"I'm a brilliant man. . . you're an ignorant "<---been reading 'HOw To Win Friends And Influence People' again I see. Thanks for the links to videos of what looks like an Ariel Atom with electric power. Now Mr. Brilliant, make it into a 3,000LB, all weather family mover with an NCAP 4 star or better rating with a range of 250 miles for under 35K Euros and you will be everything you claim you rself to be.
"douche car maker"<---so well spoken, hard to believe your ideas are not more widely embraced. Sadly, I agree with your assessment of G.M.
Nevertheless, your proposal would still yield only about a 125 mile range and that's never going to cut it in most of Europe & the United States (the two most important car markets)
Bottom line is this: some day we'll get your car but most electricity comes from burning fossil fuels. You're just churching up the big problem. Next!
@zapwatt I'm a brilliant man that is extremely well versed in the relevant cost and engineering aspects of EV, both present and future. you're an ignorant who spouted oil company propaganda as if it was an enlightened position.
electric drive can be super elegant, inexpensive and super clean in every way. it is indeed the obvious solution to both peak oil and global warming. and geopolitical energy security concerns if one is douchy like that. a glimmer of what can be: =BqqtJpfZElQ =pAujp0k8yrg
@zapwatt it was not an apology nor do you deserve one. you should however apologize.
and we were talking about electric cars. a prius is a gas car.
the Volt is a poorly engineered EV by a douche car maker caught in the act. an actually competently engineered EV could have over 1000km range with today's technology although you wouldn't do such a design because the battery pack would still be quite expensive. rather it would be a 200km range design with quick charge capability, say 80km in 6 mins
Thank you for your halfhearted apology. As I pointed out, most hybrid cars use the nickel batteries that pose an environmental threat, the new Chevy Volt does use the Li-Ion battery you praise, however in full electric mode it yields a range of 35 miles (check the EPA report). Even if you ditched the gasoline engine and some of teh trunk and tripled the batteries that would still yield a range of only 105 miles. Hardly imp[ressive or realistic for consumers. Anything more?
@zapwatt yes I know the prius use a nickel metal hydride battery. and for that it is also an oil funded lie. and NIMH has no future in electrification of cars.
I should be an even better man and not call you names. I should just endure your poor spirit and be patient with you but it gets tiresome being the lone righteous voice in an ocean of ... shitheads.
you made a massive mistake. now that you have been confronted, try to admit it.
@DanFrederiksen
