Watch in HD. Series of videos showing the construction of a large wildlife pond at a school in Gosforth, Newcastle (North East England).
The pond will have beach area, dipping platform and hibernaculum and will be planted with native plants.
This video shows how we install the dry stone wall around the inside of the pond. By building a dry stone wall, habitat is created for invertebrates which will consume organic waste in the pond - acting like a natural filter.
Liner is also hidden and protected by the wall. Large edging stones will be added to the top of the wall to provide stable access to the pond.
The gaps behind the wall also provide hiding places for amphibians.
The next video in the series shows the installation of the edging stone around the pond perimiter and the creation of the beach.

  • dude, take a break, it's raining!

  • Skin is waterproof, man.

    lol

  • Most relaxing video to watch....and the most informative i've ever seen.

  • Since most of my pond videos are just thrown together at the end of the job, I'd been asked many times to go into a bit more detail and this series seems to have worked quite well.

    Thanks for watching, man.

  • love it. good job man !!!

  • Thanks for appreciating, man.

  • No worries. If I'm doing a job which can be done in the rain - it gets done when I'm working alone. If I'm working with someone helping me, I don't expect them to work in the rain. i don't mind getting wet as I always carry a change of clothes in the van.

  • rain or shine gotta get the work done! great job dude, looks really really good

  • Lol oh

  • Looking good, the wall blends in nicely already too :-0
