Robert Kirkman, writer of Invincible and The Walking Dead, had a big San Diego Comic Con this year with the announcement of his appointment to partner at Image Comics, the news that he's writing the big crossover "Image United" and the launch of the MTV produced Invincible animated comics. We sit down with Kirkman for a frank and honest discussion and a lot of jokes.

I can't handel reading an issue of the walking dead, I need the trades. Issues are just too short for me, and if I were to read them, I would go insane waiting for the next to come out. The writing is just so good, and the artwork is great with it's grit and realism. I like how it moves slow, and has those little moments of character development. It's like a movie, but better, because it never ends! I'm still waiting for Rick's eventual death though. I know it's going to happen.

He has such a good attitude. I mean, he started oas a no-name writer with a sardonic sense of humor who simply got into the business because he liked comics.

Now, he's arguably one of the most successful writers in the business and he is still the same guy. That's both astounding and inspiring to see.
