@SleeperSaab we pull MVPs from various social channels both online and offline including User Group Leaders, Answers, IdeaExchange, and Twitter but also folks that are active . We do have a few non-American MVPs but the program is currently based out of our HQ. We have the hopes to definitely make this program scale internationally, but it is less than 1 year old so we hope to focus on it more when the program matures a bit more. Thanks for your interest.

I'm very interested in this program, but I have a couple of questions...
Firstly, does this program apply to people who are really active in the real world, or just online?
And secondly, how are the MVPs picked in non-American countries?

Awesome, very neat! Thanks for the insight.
With so many social media channels how can you possible track them all?

@grimview we have a custom object in Salesforce that helps us keep track of all our official channels. That also powers our social media dashboard so we have a consolidated view of our metrics. The other tool is Radian6 and their new summary dashboards. That's a great way to track your channels even beyond those which you officially own.

How many MVPs do you have in the program at one time? I love all of the ideas that was presented in this slideshow! It's a great resource for building out an MVP program here at Marketo.

@hrwatkins1 We are just beginning to ramp the program adding ~25 MPVs with each seasonal release. That is not a hard and fast number though. It depends on how many people exemplify the qualities found in an MVP. It is important to maintain a high bar.

If you're looking for help developing an MVP program and customer engagement strategy you should consider Ant's Eye View. They are a boutique social media consulting firm with a great team. Sean was one of the ones behind Microsoft's MVP program.
The Altimeter Group is another company you might engage. In the presentation below Jeremiah talks about MVP programs as one of the 6 areas business should invest in in 2011. Search "LeWeb 2010, Jeremiah Owyang" to find the video on YouTube.
