This little trick is for those who didn't/couldn't do the Infinite Lives trick in World 1-2. Basically, you have to get to World 7 and beat its first four levels to get to the abandoned castle. If you're not big, then go to the room with the mushroom. No need to get fancy so don't use any of your items before you enter this level. Return to the main room, hit the p-block, and rack up coins. Keep doing this until you run out of time and re-enter the level again. You can collect 14-15 lives per run.

This is helpful for the final World 8 stretch, or just to help you beat the Pirahna Plant level nearby.

  • This method is too time consuming. You'll take forever to get 99 lives this way. It's better to find a few turtles and repetedly jump on them or find goombas cotinually crawling out of a pipe and jump on them. This way is MUCH faster than getting 100 coins : )

  • This game teaches kids that numbers stop at 99 and rollover to 0.

  • Just discovered it today, just rinse and repeat and you'll have so many lives.

  • Who needs infinite lives when you have save states :)

  • LOL infinite lives but at the end you lose one. IRONY

  • @symasticsl0vers thx ^^

  • its way too time consuming anyways, rather go to one of the ice zone levels, fly up and as the timer is like 800, after completing it, just fly up collect the coins, reset the level and also have that perfect run away at the start of the level, think it is world Six is frozen, right?

  • @M3rtyville Raccoon :)

  • FINALLY. Now I can beat the game. Im sure your 35 lives just isn't enough!

  • @art11art12 Fridge Logic: Bowser was established as a powerful wizard in the early games. In Mario Galaxy, he obviously has some connections with a few alien species. Maybe Mario dying because of a timer in the earlier games is because of Speedy Comets that Bowser conjures/'borrows' from his contacts. Mario repeatedly kicking his ass may have weakened Bowser's powers/tarnished his reputation enough to mean no more Speedy Comets, and thus no more time limit in later games.

  • Why people even need 99 lives? Man you get 20-30 lives while playing few first lands and you only lose couple of them in the last land :D Just play through lands 1-3 and then use the whistles to warp into land 8...

  • @kjordon1 no because i on average every 3 minutes get 30 lives :D i am very good at the coin thing
