"Tarzan and His Mate" was Johnny Weissmuller's second MGM film as Tarzan. It was directed by Cedric Gibbons in 1934 and also starred Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane Parker; Neil Hamilton as Harry Holt; Paul Cavanagh as Martin Arlington; and two chimpanzees, Yama and Jiggs, as Cheeta.

This was the last free film before the Hays code hit hollywood. The republican Hays was called the man who killed the movies.

His decency codes did nothing to stop the future wars and only served to make a few decades of dullness.

Darla was the girl from Our Gang,a friend of Spanky and Alfalfa. they show up in the first frames of your clip.

I visited your web site and loved it. i spent the night watching the very first tarzan movie. I was not into Tarzan until i read the book then i was hooked. i read all the E.R.B books i could find even the Carter series.

I didnt know that he came to Aust. i learned much from your site. thanks for your efforts.

That's probably not Darla from our "Our Gang" because MGM didn't acquire the property until 1938. In 1934 they were still under contract to Pathe.

Yes on closer inspection i see that the Alfalfa looking one has no cow lick. the trio are just typical kids of their time reading a Tarzan comic.

And yes i did read your section.

I am amazed that ERB was able to join in the war and can imagine they celebrity status he received. i would have had him as a dinner guest every day just to hear the unwritten ideas and stories or pump him with questions.

Or just for the pleasure of his company in return for the enjoyment of his books.

Aww what memories. I remember seeing this with my dad threw the tv and I enjoyed so much watching it with my dad. I absolutely loved the scene of the crocodile and the lions. I also like cuz it is long and slow full of emotion and great characters and not one of those fast boring action shit that hollywood shows today.
