From the MTV VMA Awards in NYC, 8-29-02. This performance has a very special place in my heart cuz it's when I first started to get into Springsteen's music. I was 16 at the time. After seeing this performance, I bought a copy of "The Rising," loved it, started buying all his albums and been a huge fan ever since. So yep.. I was a teenager who discovered The Boss on my own!

Enjoy ;)

  • @justice2381 Really? Gee, I had no idea...

  • Only one thing is missing from this video: James Gandolfini introducing them. Yep, it happened.

  • I remember seeing a video involving Gandolfini's intro atleast once, but the quality was awful.

  • This Amazing Song--which, of course, Bruce wrote in the wake of 9-11--isn't "just" about that event, its impact and aftermath. Rather, "The Rising" transcends even that great tragedy, because--as is true of all Great Works of Art --The Boss transforms this remarkable work INTO the Very Essence OF Life Itself ! And thus The Rising, I believe, IS the MOST Powerful; Moving: and yes, Life-affirming Anthem in the Entire Canon of Rock Music

  • @CrimsonSunsetfire If you listen to ALL his music, it was a hand up for all of America to try to reach out and grab hold of The American Dream. And then to hold on tightly to it because while the dream was guaranteed, keeping it wasn't.

  • @Category5PHL absolutely. There is nothing or no one who is even close to Springsteen as far as power in his voice, power in his message, raw emotion in his songs, and drawing his audience in to the point they feel as if they are onstage with him. And to think he used to play 6 hour concerts when he started out.

  • Something good at the vma's for once

  • new jersey's baby!!!!!!!!! pure greatness!!!!!

  • Trust a beautiful, shining soul like Mr. Springsteen to turn one of the most brutal, tragic, and sad events in American history into something rare, uplifting, fitting, and spiritually awesome. What better tribute could there be to the 3,000 who died that day ten years ago?

  • Thank you Lord for putting Bruce in the Garden State. How proud you must be of the most beautiful blossom In The Garden. How can one not love The Jersey Boy?

  • ANOTHER GARDEN STATE A LIST FINEST...........

  • @TheTwssband It's little Stevie Van Zandt

  • Right on.
