Skyward Sword - Funny Sidequest: Cawlin's Letter "Walkthrough"

A silly sidequest in Skyward Sword that is obviously reminiscent of the toilet hand in Majora's Mask. I guess this is a walkthrough of sorts. Here's a step by step.

1. Talk to guy in Bazaar when you are tasked with finding the 3 Flames.
2. At night go to the restroom in the Knight Academy and talk to the voice.
3. By the restroom during the day, talk to Cawlin to recieve "Cawlin's Letter"

4a. Talk to Karane. She's in the classroom on the first floor.
5a. Talk to Cawlin, then talk to Pipit who's on the 2nd floor hallway.
6a. Return to the classroom and receive your 5 gratitude crystals.
Alternatively
4b. Go to restroom at night with letter and give letter to person in restroom.
5b. Talk to Cawlin the next morning
6b. Enter Groose's room at night and talk to Cawlin and receive 5 grat. crystals.

what happens if you go back to cawlin's room on another night after sending the letter down the toilet? and does the hand still moan if you give the letter to karane? does these have effects on other events in the game later on?

@shadowsa2b if the letter was given to toilet hand, every night she will "caress" cawlin. The hand doesn't do anything if you gave the letter to Karene.

This sidequest would've been so much more awesome if the game didn't make it so obvious that the letter could be given to the hand.

It's basically shouting, 'OH BOY, LINK, THIS PAPER IS THE ONLY ONE, SO GIVE IT TO THE HAND LOL'.

Also, when I did this side quest I had no idea where Karane was supposed to be and gave it to the hand...I'm reaaaallly glad I didnt save after doing part 4,5,6 B
