Great video! Can I safely prune them in October on long island new York? They bloom - sparely- up to December, something no other rose does here. Pruned them twice this year from 8 feet or so to 5 feet. In full sun they just grow like crazy and are about 7 feet again. But can I cut them in the fall in new York? They are in front of a window, so I'd really like to trim them.

@gardenmagik Oh, cool. I have 4 of them myself and they do bloom until it freezes outside. Mine were blooming last November here in Kentucky! I have just never pruned them so far back, but I will next year! One thing worth remembering about these roses--nurseries will tell you they "grow to 6 feet" or whatever, but these suckers will just keep growing! Mine are 12'+ tall and still going!
So, it is middle of May and I am just now watching this. Can I or should I still do that severe of a prune?

@tucker2202 ... No, dont prune like that in May.. but find the tallest 3 stalks and cut them about halfway down.. then take 3 other stalks and prune them about 1/4 down.. just be selective to makesure that the rose still has a nice shape after you are done.. it should produce blooms again in about 6 to 8 weeks.. feed with a 10-10-10..

@LSUTigerMom ... Well, if you prune them 3 times a year, selectively, they are in constant bloom almost! and you wont have to prune them so hard in Feb... They look better when you do a little pruning all along, as they get older...

Thanks for letting people they don't cut back roses until early march not November or December.

@randelld42 ..You are welcome! Here in Georgia, the KO Rose can still bloom into December sometimes- especially if we are having a mild winter! I just prefer to cut the roses back in early early spring...
