This is a video of one of my demos. I thought i'd edit together clips from here and there into videos to go along with some of my demos, rather than just the sound. Since people often have a limited attention span, thus a video may lure them into listening for longer.

The track is a guitar version of Michael Jackson's SMOOTH CRIMINAL. The licks contain later-type (80s-90s-ish kind of sound) Santana influence. Added some keys too and played an organ solo at the start. It's a single take affair again, literally recorded in 5 minutes or so.

SMOOTH CRIMINAL

Written by M. Jackson
Additional Music by E. Shi
With Influence from Santana Live Version
Arranged by E. Shi

guitar - Esan Shi
keyboards - Esan Shi
other instruments - As Original track "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson.

Recorded / edited / mixed / produced by E. Shi

Keep checking for more demos as there will always be more to come.

I rearranged the track slightly and replaced the vocal with guitar line.

And add my musical space http://www.myspace.com/shinkongo too. It's not complete yet but it will be updated soon with all demos.

The original "Smooth Criminal" composition was performed by Michael Jackson on the album "Bad" and written by Michael Jackson. It is copyright/the property of the respective owners.

  • I think i commented on your Billie Jean video, but now it's not available in my country. Just wanted to say, this is great, you know how to handle the guitar!!

  • Can you play "Whatever Happens" by MJ and Santana? :D

  • what is your professional name? (i have to write it in the title of the song)

  • Originally, I thought that Carlos got away from the Les Paul because of weight and tuning problems! If you look at some of the old Lotus era videos, you'll notice that he used to sit on a stool from time to time. He really isn't a big fellow you know! But I hear that the Yamaha is heavy as well. Yet he never used a stool when he played the Yamaha! So I don't know about the weight thing?

  • Even w/ LP pickups installed Santana's Buddha still sounded different than an LP. The difference may have been in the types of woods it used, but I'm not sure that the woods used in the Yamaha were much different than an LP. If not then maybe it was the wiring that accounted for most of the difference. Different tone caps, maybe a treble bleed schematic and coil tapping and such.

  • Yes I believe it to be true. However, the stock pickups seem fine to me. And have their own unique tone. Anyway it's nice to me in it's own way and hey if it was the same as the Les Paul there would be no point having it for me, since I already have the Les Paul Custom too.

  • Oh no! Because I get like a million videos sent to me, most of which are junk spams, I don't look in that section. Sounds exceptional! I will check it out!

  • On a side note, I heard a rumor that Carlos had his Les Paul pickups installed on his Yamaha because he didn't like the Yamaha's pickups.
