  • I agree, painting is like jazz

  • the french guy seems rather dumn, he barely understood anything Lynch said..and I dont mean English, I mean the actual content of his words.

  • I couldn't agree with you more about American museums. And thank you for the link! I hadn't seen that site yet.

  • Take a look at lynchtexture (at) blogspot (dot)com to see more about Lynch's art. A good resource.

  • Make that: AMERICAN museums are unwilling to show work like Lynch's. On the other hand, the Europeans are always ahead of us in embracing the avant garde-- In November, Lynch will have another major museum retrospective, David Lynch: Dark Splendor, at the Max Ernst Museum in Germany, not to mention an exhibition after that in Poland. The American public likes its art easy, soothing, and never rough around the edges.

  • He's shown there a couple times, actually. I think he also showed in the late 1980s. His photographs have been shown as well.

Museums are a bit more hesitant to show works from artists like Lynch, unfortunately. He doesn't have a big name like Kahlo or Cezanne that will guarantee a packed house. It's strange, I work with museums, and so many people don't even know he paints.

  • Yes-- just starting last week. But I'm talking about a museum show-- not the same as a gallery showing. A retrospective in his own country.

  • standfestworks - Lynch has shown in Santa Monica

  • Paris gets to see a Lynch exhibition. Milan gets to see a Lynch exhibition. Moscow gets to see a Lynch exhibition. But what about his own country? Nothing!
