Hi lostwsawyer246. I began on 20mg about 3 months / 12 weeks ago. A month back it was increased to 40mg. And I was aslo commenced on propranolol ( beta blocker ) a month back. And things are as bad as they ever were - if not worse. I`m going back to see my GP on Monday, and I think she`ll prescribe me a different type of antidepressant. I`ve been diagnosed with severe depression.

how long have u been taking them 4? cos i can take a while for them to work (6-8weeks) I only take a low dose but i don't want to cut down anymore

Yes, SSRI`s : Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors. You`ll learn about these on your nursing course. They`ve done me no good at all. I`m taking 40 mg, OD and still feel like Hell on Earth.

@Tribesman10001 erm dont think that it does. I had at 14, but as a girl i think i'd already fully grown in height by then

So its best not to put down on ur CV that u have/had depression? dnt knw if i wanna put it dwn see.

@TheMyVew no dont put that on yr CV!!! You dont need to disclose that only. If you are require to complete a occupational health form then yes you need to put depression, but if its just a normal cv you dont have to put that

Ps. I`m pleased to hear you are no longer depressed. You know what it`s like.

Thanks. I'm sorry to hear that things aren't getting better for u. It seems that GPs just tend to describe medication, but cos i was a teen they try different things like CBT and occupational therapy- i did those & that did help. GPS don't speicalise in depression, but i got to see mental health nurses, psylogists and they do. but GP just tend to think medication and then increase it if u don't get better. I hope u feel a bit better soon
