  • ..a 1960 "Show Of Stars" concert featuring several "rock 'n' roll" stars of the time- Frankie Avalon, Clyde McPhatter, Booby Rydell, The Crests, Freddy Cannon, The Isley Brothers, The Clovers, and some you don't know about (at least today); a series of special "Roy Rogers" Saturday matinees {probably featuring his older Republic westerns of the '30s and '40s); a series of "Opera Night" films in October 1955 {how many showed up for THOSE?}; and a June 1967 production promising "fun for all"...

  • This was during the period in the '50s and early '60s when theater owners tried to compete with television for their movie patrons' attention: Spike Jones and his "Band That Plays For Fun" [he dropped his group's original "City Slickers" name the year before] make a March 1956 personal appearance, promising "new routines...none of them will be on TV"; a 1955 "subscription ticket" offer that enabled the patron to see four films any time they wished within a three month period at a bargain...

  • An impressive collection--where did you get these?

I was born in Madison in 1963, so some of these are a bit before my time, but I remember all of those theaters.
