Pico-Union / Westlake Area, a predominantly Central American area of Los Angeles.

Salvadoran war refugees during the 1980s were only one current in a broad stream of Central American refugees pouring into the United States. Guatemala and Nicaragua, like El Salvador, endured civil wars during this period. Many people from those countries joined the Salvadorans seeking refuge in the United States. Many seeked refuge in such areas as Pico Union, Westlake Area, Rampart District & Koreatown.

Yep, I grew up in the Pico-Union as well. It is really comming up. The dam media loves to dwell on the negative (gangs, grafitti, and drugs) but Pico-Union is full of hardworking Centro Americans and Koreans who came to this country with a dream. You can't find a better Puppusa anywhere else.
