The Battle of Pleasant Hill, April 9th 1864, was the third day of the three day battle that started at Wilson's Farm, ranged as far as the Sabine Cross Roads junction outside of Mansfield, and concluded at Pleasant Hill. This engagement was the largest battle fought west of the Mississippi River during the civil war, and was the point of reversal of US General Nathaniel Banks' Red River campaign.
The re-enactment is held every April on the site of the battle on the CE Poimboeuf Estate. This footage was shot over April 4th and 5th, 2009. Using a Flip MinoHD camera.
Note the reversed red/blue CS Battle flag which was flown by General Richard Taylor's troops.
This video is dedicated to reconciliation between Blue & Gray, Black & White, and the men & women who gave their lives on this battleground.

"What stupid people they are! They can do nothing and their continued defeats should convince them of it. They have lost six great battles; we have captured six hundred and eight cannon, nearly one hundred thousand stands of arms, made twenty thousand prisoners, have the greatest portion of their country and are fast advancing on their Capital which must be ours,—yet they refuse to treat!"-Kirby Smith, 1847, on continuing Mexican resistance.
..Oh..the irony..

I go there every year and re-enact and I still think that old bastard talks too much, making us stand out there in the hot ass sun wearing them damn brogans and all our gear. That shit gets hot as hell and its fucking heavy. I do Federal and not a lot of our guys died but then again they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. It great seeing a video of the battle on YouTube tho, I just wish it was the 2010 battle.
