Dr. Zaman, Precision Agriculture Research Chair, is developing innovative technologies for spot-application of agrochemicals to reduce cost of production and environmental risks. Now his Precision Agriculture Research Team at NSAC is able to fly a Remote-Control Helicopter Cameraship to take images non-destructively in the field using digital color camera, DGPS and a data logger. The helicopter cameraship is capable to carry 15 pounds during flight. The images will be processed with custom developed software for wild blueberry fruit yield and soil mapping. This information will be incorporated in variable rate technologies for spot-application of agrochemicals in blueberry cropping systems.
