A brief overview and discussion of how American made brass stampings are made, their history and versatility in jewelry making. We also discuss plating finishes and why our TRUE DESIGNER FINISHES should be part of your jewelry making repertoire. Discussed are Silverware Silverplate, Old Rose Ox, Brass Ox and Russian Goldplated finish. Russian Goldplate is so special because its look is a part of design history. Besides our website at http://www.bsueboutiques.com where you can find the link "The Romance of an Old Stamping" under Artisan Library (center of the home page), I would like to encourage you to contact melinda@costumejewelrycollectors.com about a subscription to COSTUME JEWELRY COLLECTORS INTERNATIONAL. This club publishes an excellent quarterly, and the Fall 2010 edition has an extensive article written by Mary Ann Doktor-Smith about jewelry making concepts. In the article are alot of great photos of vintage dies and the process in making a stamping. Featured is an actual stamping we carry in raw brass, the large open sunflower. If you love old jewelry and are inspired by vintage design as we are here at B'sue Boutiques, you definitely want to join this group. Find them on the web at Facebook or at www.costumejewelrycollectors.com
