I don't think that there is a Tom Waits song out there that I don't like. However, some of the slower piano ones during the early years could've done without the orchestral arrangements backing them. For some of the songs, (Ex: Saving My Love For You) the strings worked so beautifully. On others, however, (Ex: Waltzing Mathilda, On the Nickle) the strings were just a little too much. The stripped down live versions are eternally superior. Just my opinion, though.

NOLA has been a sad, dirty, cesspool for centuries. Katrina just shined a light in its grime covered face. Waits wrote this tune nearly 40 years ago. The crime there now is a disgrace. FEMA has dumped billions into the corrupt hands of Nagin and posse. Its the price we pay for all of NOLA's flava.
