Hung up here on a web of comfort.
Taking off with nowhere to go.
Standing tall with but your new cloak armor.
Making out like it's all been done.
It's harder than it seems.
You slip but never fall.
They'll take you, when you wont come back to me.
Tearing down what we built up so well.

Layin low as you came my way.
Look alive with your head on backwards, goin
off when there's nothin wrong.
It's only in your dreams, but it felt like it was real.
They'll take you, when you won't come back to me.
Hang loose, my friend dont walk away from me,
because i really think you're cool.
Is it worth turning back despite these open hands?
You're tearing me apart.
They'll take you, when you won't come back to me.
(you need to find yourself).

  • Hands down my favorite Jimmy Eat World song. Can't believe these guys were in their early 20's when they wrote this - it's powerful beyond its years, for sure. Love all of Jim's work, but I'd say Tom's voice on this song and on Blister might be my favorite stuff.

  • @emperorspartacus Same here

  • *headbanging*

  • Damn I wish Jimmy Eat World would make some more true Emo music that made them so brilliant like this and the Futures album :(

  • @halifuckinfan no kidding. i dont understand why they wont play anything from Static Prevails.....it's their best album.

  • @emperorspartacus I totally did, too. I have since lost the CD, but would love to get another copy.

  • This song would make anyone plummet head long into becoming a fan of JEW.

  • I first heard this song when I got a promo CD for Surge soda. "Seventeen" was the first track, and I dug it from the moment I hit play.

  • @Afraid0fGhosts he is a different singer they changes it around after the album but hes still with the band
