@nxer Im a guy so dont really know but .... Yes initially (like as a child) but once on pointe I would say the technique is subtly different and that needs to be learnt (eg it's more difficult to releve and also there's less friction*). So it's better to practise in pointe shows than in flat / soft blocks.
*this actually means once you've got the hang of spinning on pointe, it is easier to do more turns on pointe than in flat! lol.

yeah, the last pirouette is totally fake. Why would someone do that?

those were jazz pirouettes actually. male and female dancers are better at different things. generally speaking, in the classical world, men are better turners and jumpers.

wouldn't learning in soft shoes also help you build more strength, since it's harder?

There's something funny going on in the last spin.. There's a slight skip in the video.. Makes the quad spin look fake.. But why would anyone fake balet-spins? =|
