In the example, the drive link AB rotates at a uniform rate about point A. At point B, a slider engages link CF, which makes a complete revolution about point C, but at a varying angular rate. In application, a cutting tool was attached at point E, advancing slowly on the cutting stroke and retracting rapidly on the backstroke. The quick return yielded a significant improvement in machine productivity. [Ref 4]
