Hollywood star Katherine Heigl is sending small dogs from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City where the Humane Society of Utah has been successful finding homes for these four legged refugees who likely would have been euthanized. This co-operative effort between the Humane Society of Utah, Best Friends L-A, and the Jason Heigl Foundation has saved almost 2,000 small dogs in the past year or so. This video follows the day long process of selecting and shipping these lucky dogs from LA to Salt Lake, thanks to the dedication of animal lovers intent on saving as many dogs as possible. Robin Harmon of Best Friends LA enlists the support of volunteers who load 30 dogs into a van, which is driven to St. George, Utah. The exchange takes place in St. George, where the Humane Society transfers the dogs to another truck for the trip north to Salt Lake and a happy ending for a little pup named Frodo. This is an uplifting animal rescue which will hopefully pave the way for more shelters to exchange cats and dogs...sending them from areas where there is an over-supply to shelters where the demand is greater.
