Bruno didn't leave the WWF until 1988 shortly after WrestleMania IV and it was because Vince McMahon admitted wrestling was entertainment, attempting to get the federal government off his back about distributing steroids to his performers. I think Bruno took it as Vince basically calling wrestling "Fake" as a slap in the face for everything Bruno did for the WWF, remember Bruno was there for the first 25 years of the companies existance.
The build up to this match is almost as good as thematch

I can't believe that Santana eventually became a jobber. That guy had more wrestling ability in his pinkie than most other "superstars" that came afterward. I think his career would've been saved had he turned heel.

Didn't Bruno leave the WWF shortly after this? I believe he was pissed that the WWF was becoming too violent - specifically, the incident where Macho Man smashed Steamboat's throat with the ring bell.
