Compare FT-847 and FT-857

Compare FT-847 and FT-857. I am in visit of Vlad, UA0JAD/3. He bought Yaesu FT-857 TRX. We are compearing two TRXs.

Are both radios using the same antenna?

Hi.The RF amp is turned on on the FT847 and that makes the difference in the signal between the radios!. I have both rigs too.. 73

@Blaze1024 Thank you for your comment. I never used FT-857 before. Just compared them both to see any differences on VHF/UHF.

Okay you definitely have a problem. I have both those rigs and run them side by side. The FT-847 is a better UHF/VHF rig the FT-857 is a better HF rig.

The problem is you are seeing three s units difference in received signal thats 18db!!!!!! The FT-847 is better but not that much better 18 db is huge, I'll venture a bet there is a problem in the antenna system or the rig needs to be serviced because other then really weak signals my Ft-857d can hear anything my ft-847 can hear.
