Whatever your reason, the stuff that gets tossed into the trash or recycled on a daily basis could have other, better uses.
In this video we show one method for using containers for that inexpensive garden plan. Other thoughts would include limited space, or even survival gardening. One facet that differs here from in ground gardening is that potted plants, especially outdoors, have a tendency to dry out much more quickly. Flooding can also be a problem, so be sure to include drain holes!
In any situation, fresh produce is a win. If you have never planted before, this is a good entry option. One does not need to know a whole lot to grow garden foods. Outside of adding water occasionally, Mother nature knows what to do.

  • This is what I did last fall. Used all recycled containers to start seeds in. Along with tolet paper rolls and paper towel rolls. I like the ideal of pouring the seeds into the egg carton then using twezers to pick them out. Going to use it for seed starting for spring of next year. Thanks

  • @Allen2045 the time in the egg carton is short after germination. Should have the results of more hot pepper container experiments soon.

  • That's some ol' fashion gardening right there : ) I had forgotten about reuse items for starting seeds. By the way do you still have the seeds I sent last year ?

  • @CampfireTalk you bet!

  • Not a bad way to start 'em off! I'll have to do this for some of my other seeds.
