The British Government has eased travel restrictions in relation to Sri Lanka giving a major boost to the tourism industry.
Britain earlier imposed restrictions on tourists taking into consideration the insecure situation in the North and East in the past. Britain advised its civilians to refrain from touring areas of the North and East. However, Sri Lanka is now a secure country following the elimination of terrorism. Under such circumstances, the British Government announced it was relaxing restrictions imposed on Britons visiting the island. The British High Commission said restrictions on travel to the Yala National Sanctuary, the Trincomalee Harbour and the coast in the surroundings of the Arugam Bay have been relaxed.
