Front Row Center - Episode 1a - Incendies (Road to the Oscars)

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Front Row Center, the new videocast from Sound on Sight. That's right, for the first time ever, we've put our faces where our mouths are. Wait, that can't be right. Anyway, in our first installment, we take on an appropriately patriotic subject: Justine and Simon discuss Canada's (Quebec's, really) entry into the Academy Awards, Denis Villeneuve's appropriately fiery Incendies, in which one family's fate is sussed out over four decades and at least two continents.

I feel the need to just quickly mention a few things about episode 1. We realize the lighting could be better. Unfortunately our lights blew shortly before we started filming. You can blame the studio who rented us faulty equipment. The first “into bit” wasn't supposed to go in because of bad sound, but their was apparently a mixup. Finally we only had 4 hours to set up and film the first 6 episodes. The fact that we even finished them in time is a miracle since we are working on no budget.

while a nice idea, this was ultimately a failure, i don't think any of you have a strong screen presence, your show is better suited to the audio format, it has amateurish and creaky production values and the presenters look stiff and awkward on screen

simon looks like the pillsbury doughboy, and justine just looks really uncomfortable, this was not a success, i think you should pack it in and stick to the podcasts

plus the opening in your kitchen(?) had horrendously bad sound quality

Wow, it's so weird to finally see how you guys look| Tanks for so many great podcasts and good luck with the new show. But please post the audio on the site

so I can keep listening to you guys on my long commutes here on the crazy São Paulo traffic jams, or else I'll have to keep pretending I'm not seeing this at work!
