Elvin is a young stud catcher with an outstanding body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is near above average and he utilizes his quick feet well in gaining ground, working in line with his target. Hands and feet work together in getting rid of the baseball quickly as indicated by his low 1.89 pop time. His throws display life and carry through his target. Arm strength is near pro level as indicated by his top velocity of 89 mph at the arm strength station. Receiving and blocking skills are outstanding and will play at the next level. At the plate, Soto is a switch hitter with plus abilities from both sides. Hitting abilities and power are well above average from the right side with above average abilities and well above average power from the left side. With 2 years to further develop, Elvin has a huge upside and will be a 2011 draft guy. Congratulations Elvin!
[FYI--After an unfortunate night of constant rain, the field was deemed unplayable. Kudos to the staff & players for pulling off an excellent event nonetheless.]
