kodak has a firmware 1.06 fix for all, no more lines and smoother zoom, better color, better low light. remember folks its a under $200 pocket cam, relax!!

kodak must do a better job on their products before sending them to market.
how they try to compete with other products with a buggy product that need firmware update every week.
and most people who bought this camera do not update it. so they use it with it's buggs
i will not buy this camera

it looks like an issue with the sensor being able to properly pickup diffused lighting (screen is a perfect example) However note how the lines stand still when the image freezes for a second instead of moving with the frames. I have seen this in particular happen when a screen is captured in a video even on $500+ cameras. It takes a very high quality sensor to properly record lighting that is as finely diffused at a screen would do. relax, youd see this on any non-pro camera, pocket or not.

If you mean the windshield, I understand that. Problem is, I sent this in for repair, where they replaced the camera, and it was the same issue. It wasnt just on screens...in low light the lines were everywhere. This has since been fixed with firmware 1.06, but there is still a darkening problem when zooming in, and the indoor shots seem incredibly grainy and low quality. Check out my other videos to see what I mean.

This isnt the greatest video for it. If you watch my other videos, I explain it better. Unfortunately, the rest of the videos I had from the Zi8 were deleted with a firmware upgrade in the hopes that would fix the issue. Search "Zi8" vertical lines on Youtube, or go to chrisc74's page for a good idea of what I'm talking about.

is it vertical lines of different colors? or just pixelated type lines?

Lines of different colors, really horrible pixels in low light, microphone whine...take your pick. The lines are the worst though, ruin almost all shots. Once you see them, you can unsee it.
