  • @gamolly , Sorry about the late reply. you shift the rear one when you shift the front to keep the gear ratio closer. This keeps the pressure you are exerting on the chain similiar allowing you to keep your cadence.

  • Thanks! I'm completely new to riding with gears and this helped me to understand where I was going wrong with the gears. I didn't know that the big cog on the back made it easier! I thought it was the other way round. LOL No wonder I kept getting dreadful noises and felt like the chain was going to come off!!!

  • good video, but I think sometimes you say shift up when you are actually shifting down and vice-versa. Most riders consider shifting up into a harder gear and down into an easier gear

  • هناك حدود لإختيار التركيبة المناسبة من التروس! فالبرغم من أنه قد تحصل على نفس نسبة الحجم بين ترسين بإختيار تركيبتين من التروس، إلا أن وضع السلسلة بين الترسين في تركيبة منهما ستكون مائلة جداً و في الأخرى مستقيمة تقريباً، مما يعني نقل الطاقة بشكل أفضل، و تقليل فرصة إنزلاق السلسلة

    Despite it's possible to get the same ratio by selecting two different gears combination, but in one the combination will bee very steep, with bigger chance to slip and get jammed and transmit force inefficeiently

  • I only have one chainring on the front so trying not to crosschaining is out of the question

  • I have a 2x10 drivetrain setup on my mountain bike and the best advice I can give you is use a dedicated shift pattern. For me I start in my 30 tooth ring up front and 28 tooth top cog in back. I shift to the second cog to the 6 giving me 6 gears in "LOW RANGE". I then shift to my big ring 44 tooth up front which is my first gear in "HIGH RANGE" or 7th gear. I then shift my last 4 cogs in the back 7 to 10 giving me a 11 gear transmission. This shifting pattern works for me.
