100% ABSOLUTELY LOVE KUPONO !!!!! The raw emotion he put into this performance came from a place of truth, and no one (Cole) can try to mimic it, he stamped it, this is his dance!

I just *attempted* to watch Cole and Lindsay doing this number. I couldn't get past the first steps, it was that terrible. Cole had none of the sinister, seductive magnetism that Kupono showed as the addiction, nor the incredible body flow he seemed to portray. He was rigid and robotic and almost dead in a way. And while I hadn't like Kayla through most of Season 5, I loved her in this routine. She truly embodied that helpless draw to the addiction and the intense, agonizing struggle to escape.

My god, won't you people stop using the robotic factor against Cole ? It was done on freakin' purpose! The task was to reinterpret the routine and not repeat it. I do prefer Kayla's dancing, but as I said in a previous comment: Kupono was brilliant in portraying a drug dealer, however, Cole managed to become the drug itself.

Damn it all to hell. I read your reply and tried to come up with a response to defend what I said.I could say, that what I meant was, Kupono didn't want to be in that character for even 2counts or 2steps. On an emotional level, in reference to Kupono, "steps/counts, same thing". He didn't want to be in them. That's my one cent ;). But I have to admit, it's a fact, they are two different things, and my defense is very weak, lol. Sure enough, you are correct. Your 2 cents is greater than my 1 :)

With all due respect to the dancers, I think Lindsay was more of the flaw in the dance with Cole. I think Cole was attempting to make it his own (in a robotic/machine-like way) whereas Lindsay's lack of contemporary technique was glaringly obvious. I was shocked that the judges were so kind in their comments to them. I agree though, Kupono and Kayla made this dance their own, and trying to duplicate it is only asking for criticism.

Steps and counts aren't the same. Steps are done on count, and steps refer to only dance, whereas counts are in all music. You know us music majors, have to put in our two cents. ;)
