Continuing the trend of silly behavior and pointless deaths or otherwise interesting behavior (most of which are only interesting for being so awful) set by the last few moments of the preceding video, consider this the equivalent of a "Chronicle of Failure" from the original Castlevania videos I uploaded.

All told, the footage I collected from this stage would only really be conducive to a full-blown Chronicle of Failure if I were to take all the collective failed attempts in their entirety and subject you, the viewer, to the whole thing...which is really not something that strikes me as all that interesting, so I managed to pare it down to only the humiliating parts and they all fit into these two videos. Hooray!

I have absolutely no idea what the odds are of the first two scenes having their music sync up like that must be, but it definitely wasn't intentional.

I hope you enjoy Syfa's angry jig at having traded a perfectly good ice spell for the stopwatch and the subsequent rage-induced tantrum thrown upon the nearby enemies as they are frozen helplessly in time, rather than ice...at five times the heart cost. I bet they WISHED it was ice, so that they wouldn't have to put up with all the extra abuse instead of a single painless end to their chilly misery.

Oh, and for those Ice Beam enthusiasts out there, be aware that these frozen enemies can also be used as platforms...but they seem to have a rather odd idea of what parts you should be able to stand on and where you should fall down...which is unfortunately far less generous than the area for hit detection, I'm afraid.

Also, don't you just hate it when you stand around, waiting on the bat that you KNOW is going to fly by to ruin your day, only to have it trick you into thinking that it was somehow glitched out of existence...only to smack into you in mid-flight? Yeah, tell me about it, it just happens all the time.

I'm not sure what to call the boss of this stage either, because they're like some sort of red version to the White Dragon, except they like to play at a Loch Ness routine coupled with a game of whack-a-mole.

At least Syfa's fire sure packs a punch...it would take Trevor three times as long to do the job and his whip isn't longer than the jets of flame that the bosses use...but Syfa's is. Although, you will notice that the hitboxes for these monstrosities aren't exactly as big as you might expect, allowing you to survive touching their snouts unscathed, but also giving them free reign to decide that scorching their noses just doesn't count.

  • Those red dragons sure got a lot easier when you only had one of them left.

  • Definitely...when the one fell to pieces, I was so glad that I wouldn't have to worry about the tricky "one safe spot" evasion when they both appear on opposite sides of the central platform at the same time.

The hard part can be trying to get enough damage on one or the other so that it will disappear for you...because obviously they're identical and you'll have to put up with them both while trying to damage them as best you can.

Definitely not my favorite boss fight.
