In his first outing into video games, renowned video artist Bill Viola produces one of the most bizarre games ever. A 'meditative journey into the soul', the game has been produced in partnership with USC's Tracy Fullerton.

  • It does look weird... it reminds me of a game from back in the late 80's which was a text-based adventure 'journey' and didn't really have any definable goal... if you're in to this kind of thing it could be an interesting trip, but I think it'll go straight past most gamers...

  • Shame! THIS kind of comment is why video games aren't considered art yet. THIS kind of game is what the art form needs!

  • god just say you don't like it, why do you have to be stupid and say shit about a new word and shit? that's so american

  • @Dolphgb are you referring to stork?

  • This game looks great though, I love games that try something new. Like the guy below says, it keeps things interesting.

Yeah, I mean really anything that is a creative expression is art. That doesn't mean it's necessarily good, or requires any effort. Which is why most abstract art is shit. (e.g. dropping a bucket of paint on a canvas and calling it 'deep')

  • @RadicalDreamer17 the example I used isn't even the worst one. There was a musical composer who locked himself in an isolation chamber for a peroid of time. When he came out, he "wrote" a symphony that contained NO music whatsoever. He even went so far as to have an orchestra perform the song. The orchestra didn't play a single note. What really irks me is that these artists get so much praise for doing so little. -_- Abstract art just doesn't sit right with me

Modern art can be so difficult to understand (I myself didn't either during my first years of studying it)...

You think a line in the middle of a canvas (or a blank canvas) isn't art... but it's all about the artist expressing whatever is in his mind (the blank canvas can represent the void for example). That's what make something art... and that's why the notion can seem so vague nowadays (I mean, I saw guys exposing random items in a museum and the public was totally fooled).

I know. Some people just can't comprehend that video games don't need to be all about shooting people/monsters in the face.

Oh well, I'm still glad there are creative people out there who are willing to take the videogame support and do something interesting with it (let's face it, this medium needs creativity more than any others... or it will become boring *says a blasé RPG fan*) instead of doing the same things over and over again.

  • This reminds me of The Void.

  • Drugs..
