The sights, the sounds, the unique vantage points, all of which make up the premiere closed course temporary street race in the world.

From the top of the Wells Fargo Building at the corner of Ocean Blvd. and Pine Ave., to the Fountain Corner at the aquarium, ending up at the General Admissions grandstands located on the southern end of the front straightaway grandstand bank ... This IS Champ Car! ... This IS The 33rd Addition Of The LBGP!

I am an Inner Circle Champion because there is absolutely nothing like the thrill of competition on the "EDJE" (pronounced edge)!

  • Actually, there were about 100,000 people around the course on race day. This size of crowd is about the size of the crowd for the annual USC/UCLA college football game to decide the city championship. For the three days of competition, attendance was estimated at around 200,000 total.

  • they really need to bring back the turbos in indy car. there is no better sound!!!

  • During one of the Practice sessions, I had the occasion to talk with the track announcer, Bruce Flanders ... he did not want to make any disparaging remarks that would be "on-the-record" but he did say that the biggest difference is the sound (while making an in-the-know arching eyebrow kind of look).

  • At the post practice press conference here in 2009, Justin Wilson, last year's pole winner in the CCWS Panoz DP01, confirmed that these Dallaras were a good three seconds slower and the difference was felt in top speed and, of course, getting off of the corner entering a straight.

  • The Helicopter was being used to broadcast images from the race.

  • @arena2101 Because we have NASCAR

  • I LOVE this race! I've been to several of them, mid 1990's, early 2000's. back when Jimmy Vasser and Alex Zanardi were the kings of the street! For me, this race is like a 2+ hour erection! It's amazing... watching this gives me goose bumps and makes the hair on my neck stand up! Thanks for posting!

  • @ync67 YES! That would be awesome! I do still LOVE hearing those valves floating during shifting... it's just HOT!
