Sen. Hatch questioned why Kagan, during her time in the Clinton White House, worked to modify a proposed statement from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) on whether partial-birth abortions were ever medically necessary. ACOG's proposed statement said a select panet "could identify no circumstances under which [partial-birth] procedure . . . would be the only option to save the life or preserve the health of the woman." Kagan wrote of ACOG's proposed statement, "This, of course, would be disaster." View the document Sen. Hatch references at this link: http://bit.ly/9XDmUa

ACOG later adopted Kagan's suggestions in the statement eventually issued, which was later cited in a subsequent Supreme Court case (Stenberg v. Carhart)

  • Throughout her career, Kagan has placed her politics above the law.

She has never been a judge, never tried a case before a jury and has practiced law for only three years. She is the least experienced nominee in the last half-century. This is just one of the many terrible decisions Obama has made as President.

  • answer the question already...simple yes or no

  • Can I have "Scissors and Suction" for $200, Alex? I don't mean to poke fun, but people don't understand how brutal this procedure is. Just look it up. 3rd trimester preemies survive all the time. The only reason to induce labor, drag the kid out up to its neck, stick scissors in its skull and suck its brain out is to save money. Hows that for priorities? Oh, and if states ban the procedure, ObamaCare won't be able to promote the procedure in their "Family Planning" agenda.

  • "This was a difficult issue for everybody"... haha wow, way to dodge the simple "yes or no question" and "well it is in my hand writing yes"... uhhh so you did then? Simple yes or no would suffice.

  • Elena Kagan is a political creature; this is an activist and never been impartial in her life. From the service of the President Clinton administration, she supported partial-birth abortion--that is a human formed baby into the second-trimester and third-trimester. She is eroding law to be extra-abortion and Clinton buddy; when the Constitution gives the right to "life" not death--this is a legal question, not a medical question, even Hitler's doctors did life studies without medical trama.

  • @Sardonac Yeah, animan360! What were you thinking? Haven't you heard of the method of abortion where the fetus lives?

Of course it must be done properly...but it's not dangerous. Ask the aptly named Sardonac for instructions.

  • Kagan has never been a judge, never tried a case before a jury and has practiced law for only three years. She is the least experienced nominee in the last half-century. What a circus, please don't confirm this woman!

  • Kagan sounds very evasive. She rarely produces straight answers, or so it seems. She has no children, btw.

  • @animan360 Dude, abortion is only dangerous if it's done improperly. You're spreading pernicious misinformation. Please stop.

  • I'm pro-choice, but even I have to agree with the pro-lifers that partial birth abortion and 3rd trimester abortions is outright murder.
